Today the Finance Society presents speaker Kevin Bower, executive vice president and chief financial officer of the Indianapolis Pacers.
He will inform students of the ways finance is tied to a professional sports team, and how to prepare finance majors for what they will be doing in the future.
The Finance Society wants students to become aware of the careers they could chose from after graduation, Faculty Advisor Dan Boylan said.
Boylan said Bower’s presentation will draw in students and allow them to become more interested in the Pacers.
He said that Bower will speak about where he got his education and how he furthered his career with finance and the Pacers.
Bower will also be discussing his day-to-day agenda, focusing on what he does as the executive vice president, and as chief financial officer for the Pacers.
He said that the Pacers are completely different from other companies, such as a retail store, and they have to handle financial needs and situations differently.
Boylan wants Finance Society students to broaden their knowledge of different paths that they could be taken after they graduate.
Bullis will be speaking in Whitinger Business Building Room 144 from 6 until 7:30 p.m.
