Despite some rumors circulating Thursday, Ball State’s Gum Tree, located by the John R. Emens Auditorium parking garage, will not move.
There is some construction going on near the tree, which may have started the rumor, said Kevin Kenyon, associate vice president of facilities. It appears the construction is replacing the pavement.
The tree has become an icon on campus, with students adding their own chewed wads of gum to the trunk.
