UPDATE: Muncie Police Department has taken over the closed investigation following the case. They currently have no leads or suspects.
BEFORE: University and Muncie police departments responded to reports of gun shots near the corner of University Avenue and Reserve Street early Sunday morning, according to a university email.
Police recovered weapons at the scene and believe they had been shot into the air, based on witness accounts.
UPD concluded that there was no threat to the Ball State community; Muncie police are continuing the investigation.
According to the Muncie Police Department, no further information will be available until Monday at the earliest.
