Purdue police investigate attack on student

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Purdue University police say a student was slightly injured by two men who attacked him near one of the campus' lecture halls.

Sgt. Song Kang says the male student was walking to his dormitory about 3:40 a.m. Friday when two men attacked him from behind near Purdue's Class of 1950 Lecture Hall.

The student said the men punched him and possibly struck him with a knife or some other sharp object. Kang says the student was bruised and suffered a couple of scratched but declined medical treatment.

He says the student fought back during the attack and possibly injured one of the men.

Kang says campus police are searching for the two men, who fled after the attack, but the student's delay in reporting the incident had complicated that search.
