Reservoir plan finds support in Delaware County

The Daily News

DALEVILLE, Ind. (AP) — Supporters of a proposed reservoir in Madison and Delaware counties said it could improve the economy for small communities along its path.

The Herald Bulletin reports residents gathered Tuesday in Daleville for the second of three public meetings about the proposed Mounds Lake Reservoir project.

The reservoir would cover 2,100 acres and would cost $300 million to $400 million to build. It would help supplement water needs in the Indianapolis metropolitan area.

Daleville councilman Jeff Shore said the reservoir would bring a needed economic boost to an area that he said is “just treading water.”

Opponents question the reservoir’s potential impact on the environment.
