INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — More military veterans are set to qualify for in-state tuition at Indiana’s public universities.
Honorably discharged veterans and active National Guard members would qualify for in-state tuition rates after one year of settling in Indiana.
Republican Sen. Jim Banks of Columbia City said Tuesday the measure would help increase the number of veterans with bachelor’s degrees by making college more affordable.
Veterans would be required to enroll in college within one year of leaving the service and would have to establish residency in the state within one year of enrolling.
