Ball State senior, Autumn Duke, was selected Thursday as the Mid-American Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week.
Duke finished No. 18 out of 64 golfers this past weekend to lead Ball State at the Jim West Challenge in Blanco, Texas.
The golfer from Fishers, Indiana, improved her score in every round, finishing with a 54-hole total of 239 (83-79-77) on the par-72 6,216 layout at Vaaler Creek Golf Club.
She helped the Cardinals to a sixth place finish out of a 12 team field, finished just two strokes out of fourth place. The tournament featured four teams ranked among the nation’s top 100.
Duke had five birdies in the second round alone and then used a slow and steady 18 holes to claw her way up seven spots on the final leaderboard into 18th place.
The Cardinals are out of action until March 8-10 when they return to play at the Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational hosted by Western Michigan in Rio Verde, Ariz.
