BREAKING: Ariz. school evacuated as gun report investigated

The Associated Press

YUMA, Ariz. — A school in Yuma in western Arizona is being evacuated as police search it in response to an unconfirmed report of a person possibly having a gun.

There's no report of any shots being fired at or near Rancho Viejo Elementary School or of anybody being taken into custody.

City spokeswoman Martha Guzman says school buses are taking Rancho Viejo's students to another school several miles away where their parents can pick them up.

The unconfirmed report of a person with a gun initially prompted lockdowns of Rancho Viejo and two other nearby schools.

Guzman says she doesn't know the status of the search, but she says there's no word of any gun being found.
