Ball State’s athletic department now has more Notre Dame influence as Brian Hardin was named as Ball State’s deputy athletics director, according to athletic director Bill Scholl.
Hardin, who spent the last seven years as the director of football media relations at Notre Dame, will have responsibility for most of the athletic department’s externally focused functions as well as supervision of several sports programs. He will also serve as a member of the senior leadership team that focuses on the department’s goals and strategies.
“We are extremely pleased to be able to announce the hiring of Brian Hardin at Ball State,” Scholl said in a news release. “He is an quality individual who I have worked very closely with in the past. Brian will bring a great amount of energy and knowledge to Ball State.”
Hardin had been the primary media contact for the Notre Dame football team to outlets since 2006 and was the spokesperson for Notre Dame football.
He was a member of Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick’s senior staff committee since 2010.
“I am thrilled to have received this opportunity to join the athletics department at Ball State,” Hardin said in a news release. “I have known Bill Scholl for almost seven years and look forward to working with him again.”
Hardin is expected to begin at Ball State Monday.
