Ball State students have the opportunity to purchase tickets for the Beef ‘O’ Brady’s Bowl on Dec. 21.
The tickets went on sale Wednesday along with two packages the school is offering through the Ball State Alumni Association.
In the news conference following Ball State’s bowl game announcement, coach Pete Lembo spoke of how a game in St. Petersburg, Fla., is attractive to the fan base and the alumni in the area. But the student body may not be able to bring the attendance numbers since many may not have the money to pay for a trip.
“I fully appreciate that on a student’s budget, that it’s going to be difficult for a lot of them,” Lembo said.
But even though a 16-hour drive from Muncie to St. Petersburg will be difficult for a majority of the students, Lembo said he wouldn’t be surprised to see students that were willing to make the journey to Tropicana Field.
“I’m sure there’s going to be some adventurous ones that will want to load up the car and make a road trip out of this and spend some time at the beach,” Lembo said. “I know if I was one, I’d be figuring out any way to load up the SUV and jump in with four or five buddies and make it down there.”
The school is offering two packages that can be found at ballstatesportstravel.com. The first package includes two-night accommodations at the Hilton St. Petersburg, a ticket to the Beef ‘O’ Brady’s Bowl, Ball State pregame events, souvenirs, a hospitality desk and full escorts by Premiere Global Sports staff. The price of the package starts at $499.
The second package includes a ticket to the bowl game and access to the Ball State pregame event. The price for the second package starts at $135.
Student tickets are available at the Worthen Arena Ticket Office for $20 with a valid Ball State student ID.
