Indiana police find decomposing body in freezer

KOKOMO, Ind. — A coroner has determined that a body found hidden in a basement freezer in a central Indiana home is a man reported missing by his mother.

Kokomo police Maj. Brian Seldon said authorities went to the home of 51-year-old Walter Logan on Sunday and found the badly decomposed body of 29-year-old Alex Shipp of Kokomo. Shipp’s mother reported him missing a day earlier. She told police she hadn’t heard from her son since Nov. 8.

Authorities said the freezer was not plugged in and the body was intact. Coroner Jay Price said the cause and time of death are still under investigation. Logan was being held on a preliminary murder charge. It wasn’t immediately clear whether he had an attorney.
