Two quick scores has Ball State leading Army

Edwards scores 20th touchdown of career in first quarter

Score: Ball State 14, Army 7

Knowing its chances on offense could be limited in this game, Ball State elected to receive the opening kick. It wasted no time with its first opportunity, moving effectively down field, needing just three minutes to get a touchdown reception from Jamill Smith from six yards.

Army came on with its triple option offense and was forced into a three-and-out on its first possession, giving the ball right back to Ball State. Much like the first drive, the Cardinals again drove down the field and Jahwan Edwards scored from two-yards out. The touchdown was his 20th of his career.

But the Black Knights' offense showed life in its second drive that was highlighted by a 20-yard run by quarterback Trent Steelman.

On the next play, Army's Hayden Tippett got his team on the board with a seven-yard score.
