Students awaiting the arrival of “Late Show” host and Ball State alumni David Letterman and media icon Oprah Winfrey got a rare chance to meet them in person this afternoon in the David Letterman Media and Communications building.
Student’s waited throughout the building after hearing rumors that Letterman and Winfrey would be interviewed on WCRD around 1 p.m.
Shortly after 2:15 p.m., both Letterman and Winfrey made an appearance to a cheering crowd of Ball State students and faculty.
Letterman greeted students on the second floor then walked downstairs to greet Winfrey and “CBS This Morning” co-host Gayle King. King is also Editor At Large of O Magazine and Oprah’s best friend.
Letterman and Oprah will be speaking at 4 p.m. at John R. Emens Auditorium as part of the Letterman Distinguished Professional Lecture and Workshop Series. Tickets to the conversation are sold out in both Emens Auditiorium and Pruis Hall, where it will be telecast live. There is still first come-first serve seating in the L.A. Pittenger Student Center Ball Room, which opened at 3 p.m.
