The Ball State cross country team finished in 10 of 12 teams Saturday in Buffalo, N.Y., during the Mid-American Conference Championship.
Senior MaryKate Mellen posted her best time at the championship, finishing at 22:29.0 in the 6K race. It was enough to earn her 29thplace.
Following her footsteps were freshman Katelyn DeVries and sophomore Courtney Edon, who finished with just two seconds separating them. DeVries finished at 22:47.5 and Edon at 22:49.4, finishing 44th and 45th respectively.
Senior Emilee Zets and junior Esther Tirado also scored for Ball State, finishing within a second of each other. Zets finished in 74thwith a time of 24:03.9, and Tirado was 75th with 24:04.8.
Caitlynn Edon and Kelly Swift finished with career best 6K times, with times of 24:14.5 and 24:19.8.
Toledo won the championship for the third straigh, followed by Miami of Ohio, Ohio, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Akron, Buffalo, Bowling Green, Kent State, Ball State, Northern Illinois and Western Michigan.
Ball State will compete next on Nov. 9, for the 2012 Greater Lakes Regional in Madison, Wis. The cross country team will run at noon Central Standard Time.
