Student Voluntary Services extends Alternative Fall Break application deadline

09/17/12 10:23 p.m.

Student Voluntary Services has extended its deadline to apply for this year's Fall Alternative Break.

The deadline is now 5 p.m. Friday and applications can be turned in the Office of Student Life, in the L.A. Pittenger Student Center Room 133.

Applications are available on the Ball State SVS website.

"It was really to try to get more volunteers," SVS Vice President Meghan Delaney said. "Right now, we still have some spots open. It was to get more people involved."

The trip will be from Oct. 20 to Oct. 23.

Students will volunteer with March2Recovery, an organization that provides services to those affected by the tornadoes in Southern Indiana in March.

Volunteers will go to Henryville, Ind., and the surrounding communities.

"I think alternative breaks are awesome because it's a good way to network and meet students," Delaney said. "It's a great opportunity to see what else is out there, meet people in need and help the needy population."
