MUNCIE, Ind. - A train struck a man lying on railroad tracks in a northeastern Indiana city, severing his arm.
Muncie Police Sgt. Kirk Mace told The Star Press that the train conductor and engineer saw a figure lying on the tracks Saturday night but couldn't stop the train in time to avoid hitting him.
Mace said police don't know why the man was lying on the tracks, and he didn't appear to be intoxicated.
The Star Press said the man was sent to an Indianapolis hospital. Police haven't released his name.
