After their daughter died from the 2011's Indiana State Fair stage collapse, Jenny Haskell's parents are hosting an event to support the memorial fund started in her name.
The second Jam for Jenny will be from 2:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday at Monroe Central High School. Donations will be accepted.
"Last year, we started this event out of love - love for the community and love for Jenny," Dawna Hunt, a committee member for Jam for Jenny, said.
Jam for Jenny is an event that includes "tribute, prayers, positive energy, music, raffles and donations," according to the event's Facebook page.
Musical acts will perform all day, including Cook and Belle, the Boothill Band, John Beatrice and John Allen.
"We had a previous talent contest called Spotlight, and the top four performers of that contest will compete for a small cash prize as well as donated plaques," Hunt said.
Hunt said there will be performances ranging from friends of Jenny to people who have never met her.
In addition to music, Hunt said there will be a silent auction, games for children and food available.
Hunt's main message was one of love, she said.
"The great thing about having a small community is that when there is a tragedy like the state fair stage collapse, we can all pull together and make something great come out of it," she said.
The Haskell family has since created a scholarship fund to benefit a graduate of Monroe County High School, according to the Jenny Haskell Memorial Fund website.
Applicants must be a female senior with a GPA of 3.5 or higher, received a varsity letter during her senior year or be on track to receive one and plan to attend a four-year university, according to the fund's website.
Betsy Lamb, a student who graduated from Monroe County High School this year, was the first to receive the Jenny Haskell Memorial Scholarship. She planned to attend Anderson University to major in social work and psychology with a minor in business.
