Indiana State Excise Police continued to crackdown on underage drinking this weekend with 72 arrests at Notre Dame.
Officer Travis Thickstun said in a press release that officers arrested 41 people on 53 charges tailgating before Notre Dame's football game against Michigan on Saturday.
The arrests at Notre Dame bring the total of arrests to more than 430 at Indiana schools included in the excise program, which are Notre Dame, Indiana University, Indiana State, Purdue University, Butler and Ball State.
More than 180 arrests occurred at Indiana, state excise records show.
The crackdowns began as a result of a program called the Intensified College Enforcement that was introduced in February 2012.
This program focuses on underage drinking, supplying minors with alcohol, the use of fake identification and operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.
Students are encouraged to use common sense when dealing with excise police.
