Kicker Steven Schott hit his second career field goal from beyond 50 yards as he hit a 51-yard field goal to tie the score at 17-17 with 7:35 left in the first half.
Indiana was flagged for an unsportsmanlike penalty after a punt that was downed at the Indiana 43-yard line. Starting at the 28-yard line, Ball State was able to convert with a one-yard touchdown run by running back Jahwan Edwards to put Ball State back on top, 24-17 with 4:35 left in the quarter.
