The accessibility of polling places for people with disabilities will be the topic of a free webinar today.
The webinar, which is a seminar on the Web, will be from 2 to 3:30 p.m., and is hosted by the Muncie Human Rights Commission.
"Don't forget to cast your vote! Accessibility of Polling Places" will broadcast to the third floor of City Hall in the Building Commissioner's Conference Room and is free to the public.
Speaker Faith Gross, VOTE! Coordinator of the Legal Center for People with Disabilities, will address the barriers Americans with disabilities face in polling locations and the importance of removing these barriers.
Yvonne Thompson, executive director of Muncie Human Rights Commission, said the event is an opportunity to bring awareness to these issues and give the public a chance to ask their questions.
"Everyone has the right to vote," Thompson said. "People with disabilities may have issues with being able to view what's on the voting screen, access to the polling place - just all types of issues that need to be taken into consideration."
The presentation is sponsored by ADA-Indiana, a steering committee that promotes the implementation of the Americans with Disabilities Act across Indiana, and will conclude the group's 2011-2012 Audio Conference season.
