WOMEN'S SWIMMING: Ball State with two swimmers in Olympic Trials

Both Cardinals will compete starting Monday, Tuesday

The Ball State women's swimming team will have two participants in the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials starting Monday in Omaha, Neb.

Junior swimmers Haley Richter and Bridgette Ruehl each qualified for the trials in March.

Ruehl qualified for the trials in the 100 breaststroke with a long course meters time of 1:12.19. She posted her season-best time on Dec. 10 with a 1:03.04 time against Michigan State in the 100 breaststroke.

Richter also scored her season-best time against Michigan State with 55.46 time in the 100 butterfly and qualified for the Olympic trials with a long course meters time of 1:01.58.

Richter just beat the Olympic qualifying standard of 1:01.99.

Each swimmer will be able to compete relatively early with Richter scheduled to compete in the 100 butterfly on Monday while Ruehl will compete in the 100 breaststroke on Tuesday.
