With a two game sweep of Mid-American Conference opponent Toledo on Friday, Ball State (37-13, 15-3) gave coach Craig Nicholson his 200th and 201st career victories at Ball State.
But it's not time for the Cardinals to start celebrating yet. Ball State needs only one more win to clinch the MAC regular season title.
Toledo started out strong with a four-run first inning against senior Ball State pitcher Kim Mazzapica (22-3). The Cardinals were able to quickly rally back with four runs of their own.
Ball State didn't let up after that - scoring in every inning besides the fifth while allowing four more Toledo runs to give Ball State the 15-8 victory.
The offense in game one was led by freshman right fielder Hanne Stuedeman and sophomore third baseman Audrey Bickel. Stuedeman finished 2-3 with five RBIs including her sixth home run. Bickel went 3-4 with her 10th home run in the fourth inning.
The second game wasn't controlled by the offense though in Ball State's 5-2 win.
Senior pitcher Audrey Workman held Toledo to two runs over seven innings despite struggling with control. She allowed six hits and eight walks but was able to make up for it a bit with seven strikeouts on the day.
Ball State was still able to show off some power. Sophomore left fielder Jennifer Gilbert hit her MAC leading 17th round tripper of the season while senior shortstop Allison Mercado added just her second career home run.
Ball State continues its last home stand against Bowling Green on Saturday starting at 2 p.m. and play their last regular season game Sunday at 1 p.m.
