Public Relations Student Society of America is holding their 10th Annual Chili Challenge fundraiser on Friday.
"People should come hungry and expect to win," said Alix Sappington, who is PRSSA's Chili Challenge recruitment chair.
The event will be held from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the David Letterman Communication and Media Building lobby. The theme this year is "Western Style" and people are encouraged to dress the part if they would like. Ten teams have entered their recipes to be judged in hopes of being named the 2012 Cardinal Chili Challenge "Western Style" Champion.
Best Overall Chili, Most Original Chili, Best Costumes, Most Spirited Team and Best Vegetarian Chili are some of the awards that the teams can win.
"By purchasing a ticket you automatically get a raffle ticket as well," Sappington said.
Each raffle ticket gives a person a chance to win door prizes from Papa Murphy's, Fazoli's, T.I.S. Bookstore and more. Tickets can be purchased for $4 at the event and $3 before. Celebrity judges will taste all the chili, and then it will be open to the public to have all-you-can-eat.
Sappington said celebrity judges will include Steve Lindell from WLBC 104.1, Mayor Dennis Tyler, Miss Ball State and others.
Judges will walk around and take samples of the chili and will judge each one. After they are done, the all-you-can-eat chili is available to those who paid and raffle prizes will be awarded.
"Our goal is to raise money for the chapter and provide a good time for people," Sappington said.
