MEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Owens, Leske earn All-MIVA honors

Leske ranked first in the MIVA in blocks per set

Ball State started the year with three new starters.

Two of them ended up being the only players on the team to receive All-Conference honors.

Both sophomore middle attackers Matt Leske and Kevin Owens were named to the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Second Team All-Conference on Friday.

Leske ended the regular season ranked first in the MIVA and ninth nationally in blocks per set, with a 1.29 average. He also totaled 1.55 in MIVA-only matches.

Leske performed well on offense as well, hitting .354 in his first season as a starter.

Owens ranked fifth in the MIVA and 23rd nationally with 1.07 blocks per set. He also hit .405 to rank third in the conference.

Ball State will play Grand Canyon on Saturday at 6 p.m. (MST) in the first round of the MIVA Tournament.
