BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Authorities say an Indiana University student has died after she and another student fell from a balcony during a party at an apartment.
Monroe County Coroner Nicole Meyer told The Herald Times that 20-year-old Linden Whitt died from spinal cord injuries in her neck shortly before 5 p.m. Saturday at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.
Whitt and 20-year-old Joseph Lao were taken to the hospital after falling 6 to 8 feet from a balcony early Friday. Hospital officials did not immediately have information on Lao's condition.
Bloomington Lt. Bill Parker said one witness told police Lao had been sitting and leaning against a railing and Whitt was standing in front of Lao and leaning against him before they fell.
University spokesman Mark Land said Whitt was a sophomore from Mishawaka.
