WOMEN'S TENNIS: Ball State falls to James Madison

Wild and Hebble win the only singles matches for the Cardinals

The Ball State women's tennis team's spring break trip to Orlando was spoiled on Wednesday as it lost to James Madison, 5-2.

In doubles, the tandem of freshman Courtney Wild and sophomore Kristel Sanders beat James Madison's Kinsey Pate and Michelle Nguyen, 8- 4. Wild and Sanders were the only doubles team to win as James Madison took the doubles point early.

In singles, Wild beat Pate again in a close match, 7-6 (3), 4-6, 12-10.

Senior Sarah Hebble beat the Dukes in singles, 6-4, 4-6, 11-9.

All other Cardinals lost their singles matches.

Freshman Ashlyn Rang was swept by Jacqueline Palmucci, 6-0, 6-0.

Senior Kylee Johnson put up a better fight against James Madison, but she still lost, 6-1, 4-6, 10-6.

The Cardinals will try to get back to a .500 record on Sat, March 17, as they travel north to East Lansing to play at Michigan State, coach Christine Bader's alma mater. The match starts at 3 p.m.
