Once again, a new tournament brought forward a new No. 1 Ball State golfer.
Junior Autumn Duke shot a career-best 222 in the Arkansas-Little Rock Golf Classic, including a two-under-par score of 70 in the first round, also a career-best.
The rest of the team didn't follow Duke's lead. Ball State shot a score of 918 to finish 14th out of 19 teams, its lowest placing since October 2010.
UTEP won the tournament with an 897.
Sophomore Sarah Westaway posted a 232 to tie for 49th. Sophomore Meghan Perry came in behind her with a 235 to place 62nd. Junior Zoe Camus shot a 236 to tie in 67th and freshman Jenna Hague rounded out the lineup with a 238 to tie for 74th.
Ball State plays its next tournament, the Eastern Kentucky Colonel Classic, on April 6 and 7 in Richmond, Ky.
