WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Packard to step down as coach

After four seasons, coach resigns effective March 30

Ball State women's basketball coach Kelly Packard has resigned from her position, effective March 30 according to athletic director Tom Collins.

In four seasons as coach, the Cardinals went 58-68, which includes a 29-37 record in Mid-American Conference play.

Packard's first season included a trip to the NCAA Tournament after the team won the MAC Tournament in 2009. Ball State upset the then two-time defending national champions Tennessee in the first round of the tournament, 71-55.

The win gave Ball State its 12 consecutive win, which was the longest in program history.
