SOFTBALL: Cardinals get two wins on Friday

Senior pitchers get their ninth wins of the season

The offense has cooled so far at the 2012 Mustang Classic but the winning continued after the Ball State (18-7) softball team beat UNLV 5-1 and Cal-Poly 3-2.

Sophomore Audrey Bickel broke the first game open with a three-run home run in the third inning and finished 2-for-3 with a walk.

Seniors Audrey Workman (9-5) and Kim Mazzapica (9-2) each picked up their ninth win of the season and shut down the opposing offenses. Workman pitched a complete game three-hitter giving up one run against UNLV and Mazzapica gave up two runs on six hits.

The Cardinals have now won 12 of their last 13 games and were able to pull out their first one-run victory of the season.

Ball State continues the Mustang Classic Saturday against UNLV at 10 a.m. (PST) and against Cal-Poly at 12:30 p.m. (PST).
