Dominant hitting and pitching early this season has led to a flurry of individual awards for the Ball State softball team this season.
The Cardinals swept the Mid-American Conference West Division player and pitcher of the week awards for the second time this season thanks to junior outfielder Amanda Carpenter and senior pitcher Audrey Workman, respectively.
Carpenter's .467 batting average and Workman's two wins and 0.50 ERA earned the Cardinals their fifth straight week of being represented in the conference's weekly awards. The individual award dominance is something coach Craig Nicholson said is representative of a team playing well throughout the lineup card.
"If you're winning those awards it probably means you are winning a lot of games to go with it," Nicholson said.
Ball State will be in California this weekend for the Mustang Classic, starting at 3:30 p.m. Friday against UNLV.
