MEN'S GOLF: Steger wins first pro tour event

2011 graduate was playing for Ball State this time last year

Eric Steger didn't even need a year to make a mark on the pro tours.

The 2011 Ball State graduate recently won his first pro event on the West Florida Golf Tour, beating out two other golfers in a playoff to win the Founders Club Series title.

Steger shot a five-under-par 67 to place himself in the initial three-way tie. On the third hole of the playoff, Steger putted a birdie to take the event championship.

Steger's win vaulted him into 20th on the tour money list.

As Ball State's No. 1 golfer from 2009-11, Steger finished his collegiate career as a 2011 All-Mid-American Conference First Team selection and a MAC All-Tournament selection. He ended his senior season with a 72.74 average.
