The Ball State women's tennis team extended its season-opening winning streak to four Friday night with a 7-0 win against Detroit Mercy.
Doubles swept on the evening after the No. 1 team of freshman Courtney Wild and sophomore Kristel Sanders beat the Titans 9-7. The No. 2 doubles team, senior Sarah Hebble and freshman Ashlyn Rang beat Detroit Mercy's Raina
Halabi and Chloe Karoub 8-6. Only two doubles matches were played due to the fact that Detroit Mercy has just five players on its team.
In singles, Rang beat Halabi 6-0, 6-2. Sanders defeated her Karoub 6-1, 6-3.
Senior Kylee Johnson returned from a groin injury Friday to beat Detroit Mercy, 6-4, 6-0.
"We were just waiting for Kylee to get back to full strength, not going to put her in if she wasn't ready," Ball State head coach Christine Bader said. "But she's been doing really well in practice, so I gave her a chance to come in and she performed really well too."
Also winning in singles was Wild beating Detroit Mercy 6-2, 6-2, and Hebble defeating Amanda Cornwell 6-0, 7-5.
The Cardinals' next challenge is next Friday against the University of Chicago.
