After winning its last three matches, the Ball State men's tennis team came into its home matchup with Detroit on Saturday looking to continue its success.
By the end of the day, Ball State got its wish.
Winning by a final score of 6-1, the Cardinals extended their winning streak to four games and moved their overall record to 4-2 on the season.
"It's a good day," Ball State coach Bill Richards said. "We [Ball State] pretty well controlled the match from start to finish. Only Dalton and Zane at the top of the lineup got pushed real hard. Our guys had good readiness, good energy and I thought it was a good effort, for the most part."
After winning only one of his four three set singles matches this year, junior Dalton Albertin was finally able to get a win. In No. 1 singles, he defeated Detroit's Alex Latosinsky 6-3, 4-6, 11-9.
"This is huge," Albertin said. "It would've been pretty devastating if I wouldn't have been able to pull this one out."
In addition to Albertin, freshman Ray Leonard continued to have success. At No. 3 singles, he defeated Detroits's Mike Basha 6-3, 6-0. In No. 1 doubles, he and Albertin defeated Chris Cheung and Basha 8-2.
Ball State will return to action tomorrow when it plays Illinois State and Anderson. First serve will be at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m., respectively.
