A puppy that was dropped off to Muncie's Animal Rescue Fund this weekend is believed to have been stolen on Tuesday.
Laney, a 12 week old beagle mix, was dumped on Friday. After a meeting Tuesday morning, a staff member had noticed a brunette female in the parking lot and mentioned that it looked like she had something under her coat. The woman drove off in a small purple car.
"Really, the main concern is just the dog is returned safely and we understand what's going on and why," ARF executive director Sheri Neikamp said.
Neikamp added the person who dumped her could have decided that they want Laney back or it could have been a person who decided they wanted the dog without speaking to any of the staff members.
ARF is in contact with the Muncie police department as well as the Muncie animal shelter. Niekamp added ARF is putting together a reward for Laney's return and that any information about her should be given to them as soon as possible. There is a picture of Laney on Facebook.
"If you know anything, please let us know as soon as possible so we can make sure that Laney is okay and goes to someone that will take proper care of her so that she doesn't have to deal with something like this," Niekamp said.
