An already thin amount of depth at middle attacker for Ball State has now become even thinner.
The team confirmed Thursday that redshirt sophomore Derek Menendez left the program at the beginning of December. The reason for his withdrawal was not disclosed.
Menendez was in line to receive an increase in playing time this season with former all-conference players Anders Nelson and J.D. Gasparovic now graduated.
Without him, Ball State enters the year with only three middle attackers on the roster in sophomore Kevin Owens, redshirt sophomore Matt Leske and freshman Julian Welsh-White.
