INDIANAPOLIS — Helicopters, street-corner cameras and police officers carrying hand-held devices will be watching intently as tens of thousands of fans descend on downtown Indianapolis for Super Bowl week.
Indianapolis public safety officials, the FBI and other agencies on Friday unveiled their security plans for the 10 days of events leading up to the Feb. 5 game.
The plan includes four helicopters from the U.S. Department of Customs and Border Protection, more than 80 surveillance cameras at street level and police officers with hand-held devices equipped with video connected to a new communications center on the city's east side. Special cameras will even scan the inside of trucks like an X-ray.
Officials won't just be relying on cameras. Officials say more than 100 undercover officers will patrol the downtown streets.
