In front of 8,412 fans at Worthen Arena, Ball State held on to beat Butler 58-55.
Senior center Jarrod Jones hit a jumper with 48 seconds left to give the Cardinals a two point lead. After two empty possessions by the Bulldogs, senior point guard Randy Davis hit two free throws which stretched the lead to four points and sealed the game.
Jones led Ball State with 21 points and eight rebounds. Khyle Marshall also had 21 points and added 16 rebounds.
The win was Ball State's first over Butler since 2003.
Ball State will test its now 6-2 record against IUPUI at Conseco Fieldhouse on Dec. 19. Butler fell to 4-6 on the season.
