With fall sports seasons starting to wrap up, the student population is starting to look towards the winter season, the most popular of which being basketball.
The women's basketball team opens its season at home on Thursday evening with an exhibition game against St. Joseph's College (Indiana).
If last year's exhibition is any indicator, expect a high-scoring outing, as the Cardinals beat St. Joseph's College in 2010 by 56 points, 105-56.
Thursday's game could gauge the team for the rest of the season, as the two top scorers from last year, Emily Maggert and Ty'Ronda Benning, are gone, leaving a huge scoring gap for Ball State.
"We're entering a season where there aren't as many returning answers," Cardinals' coach Kelly Packard said. "With the departure of [Maggert and Benning] and the statistical departures that they left too, it is going to take a little bit longer to really shape in its distribution and strategy with the number of youths that we have."
Tip-off against the Pumas is at 7 p.m.
