Ball State's streak of success came came to an end against Eastern Michigan Saturday night, as the Eagles won 3-1 (20-25, 23-25, 25-16, 26-28) to give the Cardinals their first Mid-American Conference loss of the season.
Eastern Michigan started the match hot to take the first two sets, but Ball State managed to bounce back with a big 25-16 win in the third set.
The Cardinals' momentum carried over into the fourth set but fell just short, as Eastern Michigan hung on to take the game 28-26 and the match.
Despite the loss, sophomore libero Catie Fredrich put together a career performance with a career-high 31 digs. Her new mark comes a week after she set a career-high in digs with 30 against Western Michigan.
Senior middle blocker Kelsey Brandl also played at a high level, recording 10 kills, 3 service aces and six blocks.
Ball State (16-3, 5-1 MAC) will continue its four-match road trip next week as it takes on Ohio on Friday and Kent State on Saturday.
