The Ball State women's golf team will look to improve on its consistency today and Tuesday at the Mid-American Conference Preview in Fishers, Ind.
The Cardinals have started this season with finishes of third at the Redbird Invitational, second at the Cardinal Classic and fourth last week at the Butler Invitational. The team was in contention for the lead after the first round in each tournament.
The 14-team tournament includes Akron, Bowling Green, Butler, Cleveland State, Dayton, Eastern Michigan, Indiana State, Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, Northern Illinois, Ohio, Southern Illinois, Toledo and Western Michigan.
Southern Illinois and Butler have both won the previous tournaments the Cardinals have competed in.
The Cardinals will be competing in the 36-hole MAC tournament led by freshman Jenna Hague.
Through three tournaments this season, Hague leads Ball State with an average of 75.71. Sophomore Meghan Perry is second on the team with a 76.57 average.
Other Cardinals in the lineup are juniors Chantelle Hefer, Autumn Duke and senior Katie Windlan. Freshman Jamie Caylor and sophomore Sarah Westaway will compete as individuals.
Caylor is being replaced this tournament by Hefer. The MAC Preview will be the first event Hefer hasn't competed in as an individual this fall.
She has averaged a 75.7 in the two individual tournaments with a best finish of 7th overall at the Butler Invitational last week. She also finished 10th in the Cardinal Classic last month.
Ball State will play at Hawthorns Golf & Country Club in the two-day tournament beginning with a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start both days.
