It was a successful day at the Greater Louisville Classic for the Ball State cross country team. Despite the cold weather, the team rose to the top.
"Everyone on the team got a season best time. Seven out of the 11 had personal best times," assistant ooach Ali Bishel said.
MaryKate Mellen tallied the best time of the morning with a run of 18:30.
Christine Talhelm recorded 18:41, knocking close to a minute off her time at Indiana Intercollegiate.
Courtney Edon and Madeline Goheen both came in at 18:57 to round out the top four for Ball State.
Madelyn Webster ran 19:05 at the biggest collegiate cross country meet in the south. Coming in 20 seconds later was teammate Tiffany Cange.
Esther Tirado (19:07), Emilee Zets (19:33), Allison Black (19:39) and Caitlynn Edon (19:36) all dropped 30 seconds or more off their best times for the season.
First-year distance runner Thekla Lorenz continues to make drastic improvements, shaving off a minute at this weekends race with a time of 20:51.
The Cardinals return to action on Friday, Oct. 14 when they host the Ball State Invitational. They host the Mid-American Conference Championship two weeks later.
"A lot can happen in a month," Bishel said.
