Ball State finished eighth over all at the Mid-American Conference Cross-Country Championships on Saturday. Toledo came away with the championship title for the second consecutive year.
Ball State hosted the event at the Muncie Elks Country Club.
"I'm not content," coach Ali Bishel said "I'm not satisfied with how the girls did today Individually we had several [personal records]."
MaryKate Mellen was the top finisher for the Cardinals, coming in 32nd overall with a time of 22:16.
"I don't think it was my best race, I could have done better." Mellen said, "I just didn't feel good during the race."
Senior captain Christine Talhelm improved her time by almost 30 seconds from what she ran at the Ball State Invitational two weeks ago. Talhelm finished her last MAC meet in 35th place, with a time of 22:30.
"As an individual I felt really good about my race," Talhelm said. "Our team didn't finish where I wanted them to."
Madieline Goheen had a time of 22:41 finishing third for Ball State and 40th overall.
Rounding out the top five runners for Ball State were Esther Tirado and Emilee Zets. Tirado finished 56th with time of 23:16. Zets had a time of 23:34, placing 64th.
"The top four girls - MaryKate, Madi Goheen, Christine Talhelm and Esther - Tirado all had great races today," Bishel said. "They all had the race of their lives today."
Allison Blanck finished with a time of 23:58. Twin sisters Courtney and Carlynn Edon came in with times of 24:42 and 24:46, respectively. Running a 25 minutes flat was Madelyn Webster.
On Nov. 12, the team heads to the Great Lakes Regional in Toledo, Ohio. The meet starts at 11 a.m.
