Coach Steve Shondell said Friday's matches against Evansville and Valparaiso would be 'a war' for Ball State.
That proved to be the correct prediction for the first match. Ball State managed to outlast a tough Evansville team in five games, winning 3-2.
In the second match only hours later, the Cardinals didn't have near as much trouble. They waxed the Valparaiso Crusaders in straight games to earn a 3-0 victory.
Senior middle blocker Kelsey Brandl continued her dominant start to the season, leading the Cardinals with 31 combined kills in both matches.
The wins, both on the road at Valparaiso, extend Ball State's perfect record to 5-0.
Ball State continues its four-match weekend today, facing off against Murray State at 2 p.m. and Texas A&M - Corpus Christi at 7 p.m.
