The Ball State women's tennis team opens its season as it travels to Columbus, Ohio to compete in the Ohio State Invitational this weekend.
The Cardinals are preparing to improve on last season's record of 8-17 overall. Ball State finished in last place in the Mid-American Conference, earning just one victory in conference play.
Coach Christine Bader has a positive outlook on this season after signing two four star freshmen this offseason, Ashlyn Rang and Courtney Wild.
Ball State will depend on the leadership of its three seniors Dena Boulieris, Kylee Johnson and Sarah Hebble. The team has more experience this season with three seniors and two juniors that know what it takes to compete at a high level.
The team will compete this fall in a host of tournaments including the Ohio State Invitational and the Ball State Invitational. Bader is hoping that these tournaments will prepare the team for the spring season when it matters most.
The Cardinals will also compete in the MAC Invitational on Sept. 30.
The spring season will begin with a head to head match up against IUPUI on Jan. 1, 2012.
