Pavla Benyrova quickly made a name for herself this weekend with a game-winning double-overtime goal to give Ball State a 2-1 win over Indiana State.
The Mid-American Conference recognized the freshman soccer player for her achievement this week.
Benyrova was named the MAC Defensive Player of the Week for her first career goal and for helping the Cardinals hold their two weekend opponents to two total goals.
Before coming to Ball State, Benyrova played three seasons with the Czech Republic National Team and also participated in the 2009 World Cup qualifiers.
Ball State will play in the NAU High Altitude Tournament in Flagstaff, Ariz. with games against Northern Arizona on Friday and Lamar on Sunday.
