Ball State sophomore outfielder Sean Godfrey has been recognized by one of the most prestigious organizations in college and high school baseball.
Godfrey has been named to Baseball America's Top Prospect list for the 20 different summer college leagues and Team USA. He is also one of three players from the Mid-American Conference to make the list, joining Buffalo's Tom Murphy and Ohio's Seth Streich.
Godfrey is ranked as the ninth best prospect in the Cal Ripken League, playing for the Southern Maryland Nationals. He led his team with a .357 batting average in 39 games over the summer and tied for the league-lead in triples with three, second in stolen bases with 20 and fifth in hits with 50.
In addition, Godfrey was named to the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball league All-Star Team as a starter and collected two hits in the game.
As a freshman, Godfrey played in 32 games, posting a .272 average, while compiling 28 hits and driving in 14 runs.
His play progressed once Mid-American Conference action began. In 16 starts, Godfrey recorded a .306 average, which ranked third on the team.
