As the Ball State men's golf team begins its qualifiers for the top 5 spots, two of its best players are in a much bigger qualifier.
Sophomore Tyler Merkel and junior Alex Stinson began their qualifiers for U.S. Amateur tour this Monday and continue playing through Sunday.
Merkel shot a two-over-par 72 in his round on Monday. On a much tougher course, Alex Stinson carded a five-over 75.
Tuesday's morning round was delayed due to rain. The second round of stroke play was not completed.
