The first player for Ball State's incoming recruiting class has finally emerged.
Naperville North outside attacker Shane Witmer has verbally committed to the Ball State men's volleyball team, according to middlehitter.com
Witmer was named team MVP, all-conference and all-state in his senior season. He also carried the Huskies to the state championship match, which they fell just short of winning this Saturday.
Witmer was the focal point of Naperville North's offense, racking up 411 kills in his final high school season.
Additional Ball State recruits will most likely join Witmer this summer. Ball State coach Joel Walton said this spring he wanted to add another middle attacker to his 2012 class.
