President Barack Obama will make up a postponed trip to Indiana on Friday.
He will tour the Allison Transmission facility in Indianapolis during the afternoon. He will discuss rising oil prices and the need for an improved energy policy.
Allison Transmission is the world's largest manufacturer of automatic transmissions for medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicles, military vehicles and hybrid-powered systems. The hybrid system for buses has saved more than 17 million gallons of diesel fuel, according to a press release.
The president was scheduled to tour the plant April 8, but the visit was canceled due to the budget deadlock in Washington. In the lead-up to the originally planned visit, Obama announced an initiative to reduce U.S. oil imports by one-third by 2025.
