As the budget crunch gets closer, President Jo Ann Gora is making every effort she can to show that Ball State is going above and beyond what the state asks.
She met with Sen. Luke Kenley (R-Noblesville), chairperson of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today to discuss Ball State's progress in meeting and exceeding state standards. She was invited to meet with him after giving a formal presentation to the committee last week.
Tony Proudfoot, associate vice president of Marketing and Communications, said Gora did not go to the Statehouse with a presentation. She was there to speak informally on behalf of Ball State in regards for funding for next year.
Proudfoot said he couldn't offer specifics from the conversation, but this means the process is moving.
"This is a very normal part of the process," he said. "Any opportunity to speak with our legislators about the positive story that Ball State is meeting state requirements is a positive thing."
